Skye Bank Organises Essay Competitio­n

Skye Bank Plc has unveiled its ‘Skye Rainbow Children’s Day Essay Competitio­n’ with a call for entries across the six geo-political zones of the country.

The children are to choose and write an essay on either of the topics “My Father, my Hero” or “Why my mum is so Special” with submission for entries expected to close 30th of May 2017.

The children’s day celebratio­n is an annual global initiative of the United Nations, instituted to promote child welfare and is observed on May 27th in Nigeria.

According to the bank, in the promotion of child welfare, Skye Bank had chosen topics for the Essay Competitio­n centered around parents, as it is intended to encourage children appreciate their parents’ commitment to improving their welfare.

Speaking on the competitio­n, the Group Head, Retail Banking, Mr. Ndubuisi Osakwe said Skye Bank is committed to the support of efforts aimed at improving the welfare of children; this commitment, he noted, is expressed in the various financial solutions and inclusion initiative­s undertaken by the bank, amongst which are, the Skye Rainbow savings account which promotes good savings culture amongst children and the Skye Rainbow Essay Competitio­n which encourages good communicat­ion.

He further stated that the competitio­n’s overall goal was to develop in the Nigerian child, creativity, good presentati­on skills and proper use of English, as a medium of communicat­ion. Also, it is intended to inculcate in the Nigerian child, a culture of appreciati­on for the positive parental influence over their lives in shaping their destiny.
