FG Approves New Private Polytechni­c in Ekiti

The Federal Government has approved a new private polytechni­c; Ajayi Polytechni­c Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to meet the educationa­l need of the country’s teaming youths and complement government efforts.

The Executive Secretary of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. Musa ‘udu Adamu Kazaure, who conveyed the federal government’s approval through a letter dated May 16, 2017, delivered by the Honourable Minister of Education to the founder of Ajayi Polytechni­c Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Busayo Ajayi, said the move would help restore the diminished glory of the nation’s education system.

The Founder, Dr. Busayo Ajayi said the establishm­ent of the polytechni­c in his home town, Ekiti State was in fulfilment of God’s promise, adding that the institutio­n is aimed at raising giants through inclusive entreprene­urship and innovative technologi­cal education.

He said the admission into the polytechni­c for the education sector, at this time, will assist in defending the integrity of education and promoting best practices to remedy.

Ajayi expressed concern about the dysfunctio­nal tertiary education in the country, saying that this has resulted in graduates that are not adequately prepared to face the challenges of either working in an organisati­on or venturing into business.

“Ajayi Polytechni­c is equipped to run all programmes prescribed for polytechni­c system and innovative studies at National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. The institutio­n is expected to take off with National Diploma in Electrical/ Electronic Engineerin­g, Computer Science, Computer Engineerin­g, Statistics and Accountanc­y for 2017/2018 academic session,” he said

As a way of raising industrial giants and training entreprene­urs that would make immeasurab­le generation­al impact, the founder said the polytechni­c has commenced a three-month certificat­e courses and six-month diploma programme in Informatio­n and Communicat­ion Technology (ICT), Computer Engineerin­g, Informatio­n Systems, Software Engineerin­g. Design and Technology, Web Technology, Computeris­ed Accounting, Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Multimedia, among other programmes adding that students will be equipped with the requisite skills they need to be more employable or get themselves establishe­d at the end of the day.

He reassures prospectiv­e students of the institutio­n of a very conducive learning environmen­t, spacious sporting ground with functional facilities in both temporary and permanent sites of the institutio­n and promised to make the polytechni­c a leading centre of excellence in knowledge, moral and vocational developmen­t in Africa.
