AT LAST, RONKE ADEMILUYI EARNS OONI’S GOOD GRACES

•WHY THE ROYAL FATHER MADE HER AMBASSADOR

-

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi’s ascendance to the exalted throne was not without squabbles and scheming especially from women. Before his enthronement, the Ooni was a rock and roller, the life of many diurnal gatherings and nocturnal peregrination. A multiple threat potential; gangling and good- looking, wealthy and fun- loving, the Ooni was also generous. Thus, when he was enthroned, it behoved him to remarry after his first marriage packed up. One of the prominent names that made the rounds then was that of Ronke Ademiluyi, a lawyer cum fashion entrepreneur and founder of the African Fashion Week Nigeria. She is also the proprietress of popular fashion house, Rukkies, in Opebi, Lagos.

It was wildly reported then that the Ooni had settled for the Rukkies boss. While she didn’t issue a rebuttal even as the news gathered momentum, her friends, those who preoccupy themselves with dishing hot news to others like they were paid to, had hit the streets, excitedly spreading the gospel of their friend’s good fortune. Knowing their ways, it would not be out of place to imagine that they must have settled for an expensive aso- ebi for the imaginary wedding. That was not to be however as the Ooni eventually put them out of their misery and starry- eyed longing when he settled for the beautiful Olori Wuraola. There was not a whimper from Rukkies’ circle thereafter. The good- natured Ooni recently appointed Ademiluyi as the Heritage Ambassador for Queen Moremi Legacy, saying it is in recognition of her being at the forefront of promoting the African culture. By the appointment, Ademiluyi is expected to develop sustainable avenues, seek strategic partnerships and collaborations and also generate and design activities that would sustain, promote and boost the legacies of Queen Moremi.
