The annual Junior Golfers Clinic targeted at students has commenced at IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

The programme is at the instance of the club’s ladies section currently headed by Mrs Grace Ihonvbere.

IBB ladies have traditionally arranged summer developmental clinic for junior golfers to integrate them into the game and improve their golfing skills.

Over 100 students whose ages range between 3 and 18 years are attending the clinic that runs for three weeks.

Top professional golfers including, Uloma Mbuko, Dominic Andrew, Ayuba Musa, Gboyega Oyebanji and AU Baba among others will offer life skill training to the children.

IBB club ladies have traditionally supported grassroots golf by organising summer clinic for children while on vacation.

The clinic will prepare the kids for the IBB Junior Open later this year, according to Ihonvbere.

The lady captain appealed to parents to bring their children back for refresher training so as to consolidate on the gains of the academy.

“The clinic is designed to catch them young. It will also be an on going programme so that the kids can be better golfers”, Ihonvbere said.

The captain of IBB Club, Sunday Ameh (SAN), lauded the ladies for organising the clinic that will discover potential golfers before they embrace other sports.

Ameh stressed that established golfers should help aspiring golfers grow along the various stages of the game so that they can be better golfers.
