MADONNA BLOCKS ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO INVADE HER PRIVACY

-

For the second time this year, pop singer Madonna halts an attempt to penetrate her private life. Earlier this year, she bluntly disapproved Universal’s biopic on her ‘Blond Ambition’, claiming that she is the only one who can tell her story.

In a recent lawsuit, she blocks the auction of some of her personal items which she claimed were stolen.

According to reports, the singer was nonplussed when she learnt that a love letter written to her by her late ex-boyfriend Tupac Shakur was to be auctioned among other personal items such as underpants and a hairbrush with traces of her hair.

Outraged by this invasion of privacy, the Material Girl singer sought a court order to block the auction which was granted to her by a New York Supreme Court Judge.

“The fact that I have attained celebrity status as a result of success in my career does not obviate my right to maintain my privacy, including with regard to highly personal items,” Madonna said.

The letter and the other two items were to be auctioned on the Gotta Have Rock And Roll website later this month.

Court papers said the Tupac letter was expected to fetch up to $400,000, and state Madonna’s former friend and art consultant Darlene Lutz as the person behind the sale.

“I understand that my DNA could be extracted from a piece of my hair. It is outrageous and grossly offensive that my DNA could be auctioned for sale to the general public,” Madonna said.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Lutz and the auction house said the decision will be challenged and refuted in court, after the singer alleged the items were taken while she was not in residence. The spokesman expressed confidence that the auction will still take place.
