MFM FC Defeats Katsina Utd to Return to Second Spot

-

Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries ( MFM) FC central defender, Monsuru Bashiru is quite thankful to God that his side won the five-goal thriller clash against newcomers, Katsina United.

The Olukoya Boys beat the Changi Boys 3-2 in Monday’s Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) Match day 31 clash at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.

The Lagos side gave away two first half goals by top-flight leading scorer, Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun as the visitors came back strongly in the second half to even scores at two-goal apiece through midfielder, Destiny Ashadi and forward, Obinna Eleje before Chukwuka Onuwa grabbed the winner in the 78th minute for his side.

Bashiru said a careless mistake and loss of concentration almost caused them the match against the hard fighting visitors, Katsina United.

“A very little mistake gave the visitors, Katsina United the opportunity to come back from two goals down to level scores before we went ahead with the winner through Chukwuka Onuwa.

“We almost suffered the same fate that befell FC IfeanyiUbah who went two goals up only to watch as the visitors, Gombe United came back strongly to cancel the goals to end tie at two goals apiece.

“We thanked God that we were able to rally round resolutely to win the match 3-2 at the end of the day.

“The hard fought victory has put us on strong path to still challenge for the league crown even though we are three points behind leaders, Plateau United.

“I think Plateau United have done very well for themselves going out to pick point on the road at Lobi Stars. “We want to work on our away performance to bring it to par with our home performances.”

The Lagos landlords are second on the 20-team top-flight log on 52 points three behind league leaders, Plateau United.
