FOLORUNSHO FOLARIN-COKER’S MAGIC WAND
All you need to know that Folorunsho Folarin Coker, otherwise known as Folly Coker, is the brains needed to bring further development to the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation is the recently launched Tour Nigeria initiative, an ambitious attempt at making Nigeria a major destination for tourism, hospitality, arts and entertainment in Africa. It was launched in Lagos last week.
Hard-working Folarin-Coker is known for working wonders wherever fate has placed him in the public service in the past years. As commissioner for arts and culture in Lagos State, he shone brilliantly. Perhaps, this explains why his fans were greatly shocked when he was relieved of his position by the state governor, Akinwumi Abode. More so, he is seen as one the closest and most loyal aides of former Lagos State governor and APC chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He didn’t take the development in bad fate; rather he saw it as an avenue to move on and re-strategise his numerous businesses. .
For a while, he left the shores of the country to spend time with his family before he finally returned home. This time, rather than stay in Lagos, he chose Abuja. Soon, mother luck smiled at him when he was appointed Director General of the Corporation in March by President Muhammed Buhari.
Though it is said that he rode to prominence on the crest of his father, Chief Folarin Coker, fondly called Baba Eto of Lagos, it is believed that he shot to greater fame when he worked as Deputy Chief of Staff to Tinubu.
