- Sheriff Balogun in Abeokuta

Diamond Bank Plc has rewarded ten esteemed customers who won cash prizes ranging from N500,000 to N1million while a brand new Hyundai Accent car was won as the star prize.

The customers include Mrs. Adegbite Grace Oluwatoyin who won the star prize, a brand new Hyundai Accent car, Ayodele Oluwafemi Fakeye won N1million, Kareem Sulaimon Toyin (N1million), Shugang Wang (N500,000), Ogundele Michael (N500,000) and Nwanko Esther (N500,000).

Speaking at the event held in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital tagged ‘SouthWest Region Draw of season nine of the DiamondXtra’, head of Consumer Banking of Diamond Bank Plc., Mrs. Aishah Ahmad said the bank in the last nine years has spent N5.4billion as rewards for consumers.

She said the aim of the programme was to encourage the customers to cultivate the habit of saving, urging government at all levels to always cultivate the habit of saving, not only for the rainy days but to also enable them execute their various projects.

She said “to be part of the promo, you have to open a Diamondxtra account, put a minimum of N5,000 and every month, put in additional N5,000 which gives a better chance of winning after all these all you need to do is just sit back and you might just a winner.”

While speaking on the promo, Ahmad noted that the goal was not just about rewarding people with money but about encouraging them to imbibe the habit of saving.

“It is more than just a bonanza, what we are trying to do is that we are encouraging people to save. We are encouraging individuals, households, businesses that saving inherently has its own value. Saving helps people to achieve their goals, it enables them to be organised with their lives and to help them to achieve that dream that they are looking at”, she said.

She continued: “It is not about rewarding people with money, it is about encouraging them to save. If they save little out of what they have, one day they will be encouraged to win.”

“We must continue to save and encourage people to cultivate the habit of saving, no matter the state of the economy, we must live well and this can be done through saving, that is why we must encourage ourselves to continue to save.”

“Even in the Nigeria economy, a pool of savings is what is available for investment, so if you are a country that is not use to saving, there is no way we can invest in infrastructure that we are all talking about. We want good roads, we want electricity and the rest, there has to be a stock of investment money to do that and that comes from savings.”

“On average we give out around N600million every year. It is a purely independent system because it is electronic, what we normally do is that we run the system and it comes out with ten random winners”.
