-

Amidst the mounting excitement of the Merrybet-Lagos SWAN Cup, Lagos sports journalists will take time off today to brainstorm on solutions toward achieving a revival of the nation’s sports.

The special lecture which is part of the Lagos SWAN Week has as guest speaker, Hon Nduka Irabor, pioneer chairman and CEO of the League Management Company who will be speaking on the topic: Nigeria Sports: Strategies for Revival and Growth.

Chairing the occasion is Mr Dan Ngerem, former President of the Athletics Federation (AFN) and patron of Lagos SWAN while the Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Tunde Popoola, Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu, and the Director of the National Institute of Sports are special guests of honour.

Speaking on the event which holds at the Lagos SWAN Secretariat by 11am, Chairman of the association, Fred Edoreh, said while journalists engage in the competition and fun of the SWAN Cup, it is necessary not to lose sight of the current challenges in the nation’s sports.

“We have come to the point where we must collectively put hands together to save our sports. There is no doubt that the Nigeria sports sector is not at its possible best presently. We cannot only continue to despair and blame one another.

“We have to put heads together to proffer solutions and take responsibility to re-invent and reposition our sports. It starts with building and sharing knowledge and intelligence. “This is why the lecture is of great importance and we are delighted that Hon Irabor who pioneered the progressing reforms of the Nigeria Professional Football League has committed to sitting with us to reason together.”

Edoreh said the forum is not only for journalists but all stakeholders in Nigerian sports especially sports administrators, managers, coaches and staff of various federal and state sports institutions who have been invited to participate.
