Keystone Bank Gets Substantive MD/CEO
The board of directors of Keystone Bank Limited has appointed Mr. Obeahon Ohiwerei as substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, a source close to the bank disclosed last night.
Already, the Central Bank of Nigeria was said to have given its nod to the board to formally communicate its decision to Ohiwerei.
Ohiwerei is expected to bring enormous wealth of experience he had acquired in both domestic and transnational financial institutions to bear in the leadership of the Bank as the new MD/CEO.
According to the source, the new helmsman will soon assume office, adding that during the interval between his appointment by the Board and the regulatory approval, he has been in close contact with the bank in a bid to understudy the management of the bank.
Until his appointment, Ohiwerei was the Deputy Managing Director of First Ally Capital Limited. He holds a first degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Business Administration and began his banking career in August 2002 with Pacific Bank Limited, Lagos.
Following the successful conclusion of the divestment of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria ( AMCON) from Keystone Bank Limited and the hand-over to the Sigma Golf – Riverbank Consortium a few months ago, the bank on April 1, 2017 appointed Mr. Hafiz Bakare as acting Managing Director/CEO.
He assumed this position under a transitional governance arrangement as a bridge between the erstwhile AMCON-appointed Board under which he served as an Executive Director, and the transition Board instituted by the new owners.
This was to ensure continuity and stability pending the constitution of a substantive Board and Management for the Bank. The transition had been very seamless with a number of positive developments recorded during the period.
