KOGI STATE GOVERNOR, YAHAYA BELLO, COMPLETES MULTIMILLION NAIRA MANSION.
There is an innate strength in Gov. Yahaya Bello that defies notions of valour applicable to his peer. Even though he is just 42, the executive governor of Kogi state grapples with the challenges of his office and demands of running a home with three ravishing wives. Very few men of his age and class can handle the onerous tasks of running a state and catering to the needs and desires of a large family. But Yahaya unfurls into the task without a crease in his brow or the oft dreaded fear of exhaustion. Yahaya does not crumble in fear or anticipation of failure because he believes that even the greatest challenges and darkest days were made to sharpen a man’s wit and burnish his shine.
However, his property acquisition drive no doubt reveals his innate passion to succeed where several of his predecessors and colleagues have failed. He understands that political office and power are temporary perks in the life of a man hence his determination to acquire property and establish a fluorishing business in the real estate sector even before his tenure expires. A man with three wives obviously dreads slipping into a life of penury soon after he quits his position as Kogi State governor.
Civil servants in Kogi state, both serving and retired, may be grumbling about irregular payment of their entitlements, but he is not building his hopes on their economy. On Mahmoud Atta Street, GRA Okene, the governor is putting finishing touches to his stateof- the- art country home, or mansion rather, which an insider described as “a thing of beauty”. But there is a snag: residents of the exclusive residential area are complaining about the disruption the 42- year- old governor has brought upon their lives. “He has converted the main street entrance to his private entrance and is creating another entrance for lesser mortals like us,” a resident complained to an online newspaper, TheCable, recently.
