The news that NXT Women’s Champion Asuka has suffered a major injury took some shine off the WWE Raw event at the Barclays Centre here in New York yesterday.

Asuka who defeated Ember Moon late Saturday night in the NXT “TakeOver: Brooklyn III” event remains champion for a much longer time because of her present situation.

During her championship defence against Ember Moon, Asuka suffered a broken collarbone. The news came into public space through top officials of WWE and the flamboyant wrestler is to be out of action for over two months.

Due to the injury, ‘ The Empress of Tomorrow’, is not medically cleared to compete, and no official timetable has been given for her return.

Ringside Physician, Dr. Jeffrey Westerfield, told THISDAY yesterday that typical recovery time for a broken collarbone is between 6 and 8 weeks. He had earlier attended to Asuka during the NXT “TakeOver: Brooklyn III”.

“During the match, she landed awkwardly from a throw from Ember Moon and was able to complete the match, but had notable pain and discomfort,” Dr. Westerfield revealed. “We performed an initial ultrasound backstage that was highly suspicious of a break collarbone. That was later confirmed by an X-ray,” Dr. Westerfield stressed further.

WWE has not announced if she will be stripped of her championship. If that happens, it will bring an end to an impressive championship run that is now over 504 days.

Before this development, there was speculation that Asuka may be moved to the WWE roster on either “Raw” or “SmackDown” but such plan has now been put on hold.

However, the graphic designer cum video game journalist assured her teeming fans on her Twitter handle yesterday that she will be back soon; Asuka also commented on her injury: “like the Terminator, I’ll be back” #Undefeated# The Streak.

But at the WWE Raw event of the day, The Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, was in high spirits with a big grin on his face as he walked out still Universal Champion.
