Justice Ajanah Promises Quick Dispensation of Justice

- Yekini Jimoh

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, has promised quick dispensation of justice as he constructed more Magistrate courts across the State.

Justice Ajanah disclosed this, during the commissioning of newly built Magistrate Courts at Ganaja, in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He noted that "We envision justice delivery to the people of Kogi State at a minimal cost and constraint. That is the reason we have the presence of Courts in many locations of the State".

"Our Judicial officers, at both the Superior Courts and the Lower Courts, have bought into this philosophy, hence, these adjudicators persevere to reside in the nooks and crannies of the State to perform their judicial functions, fulfill their oaths of office and to satisfy humanity in their chosen career", he said.

Justice Ajanah posited that a prototype of the court he commissioned, is also ready to be commissioned at Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of the State, adding that he will continue to maximise what was available to them, in the belief that they need to leave behind, an enduring legacy which will be appreciated by all and sundry, apart from creating a conducive working environment for their officers.

He noted that many Courts in the State need to be refurbished, or new constructions done in other places, as he pledged not to rest on his oars as long as he remains at the helm of affairs in the Kogi State Judiciary.

He therefore, commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for coming to his assistance when some of such demands are made.

Justice Ajanah noted that without the fulfillment of the spirit of the provision of Section 121(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which section guarantees the financial independence of the judiciary, "we are constrained to keep making such demands. We only ask for understanding".

"It may be impossible henceforth, to achieve our aims towards the improvement of infrastructure in the Judiciary, as we cannot access any other funds except the allocation in the Budget for capital projects is released. We therefore, eagerly await the release of the funds, to enable us embark on the projects earmarked for the year", he appealed.

Earlier, the Chief Registrar of the High Court, Alhaji Yahaya Adamu, in his speech, said Ganaja Community provided land for the building of the court, adding that as time goes on and funds are made available, the Felete Magistrate Court will be constructed.
