LAFFTA FEST FILLED CELEBRATIO­N FOR KANO RESIDENTS

It was a memorable Sallah celebratio­n for the people of Kano on Sunday, as the mega comedy show, GloLaffta Fest, organized by Nigeria’s foremost telecommun­ications company,Globacom hits the densely populated city.

It was the 21st stop for the highly sought-after comedy extravagan­za that parades some of the best comedians on the African continent. The cities the show has traversed include Port Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu, Owerri, Warri, Calabar, Uyo, Ibadan, Benin, Ijebu Ode, Lagos, Kaduna and Suleja, among others.

The Kano edition of the show, which was held at the Meena Event Centre, coincided with the annual Durbar ceremony which is usually the climax of the Muslim’s festival of Eid el Kabir in Kano. The show attracted Kano residents from all walks of life.

The comedian line-up included Bright Okpocha (Basketmout­h), BoviUgboma, Godwin Komone (Gordons), IruvweOkie­mute (De Don), Francis Agoda (I Go Dye), Patrick Onyeke (Mr. Patrick), and Saed Mohammad (Funky Mallam).

The evening of unlimited fun was kicked off by the drama sketch kingpin, Mr. Patrick, who thoroughly entertaine­d the audience with jokes drawn from a wide range of topics, including politics, economy and religion. He was followed very quickly by De Don, who sent the audience reeling in laughter with hilarious stories around the harsh economic conditions of the country.

One of the most prominent Nollywood personalit­ies from the north, Funky Mallam, picked the baton and entertaine­d the audience with a combinatio­n of Hausa and English jokes.
