CITIZEN OF HUMANITY... AS AWUJALE COMMENDS GLOBACOM BOSS FOR HELPING TO SUSTAIN OJUDE-OBA FESTIVAL FOR 11 YEARS

-

If Dr. Mike Adenuga did not exist, who could invent him? Think. Yes, Adenuga, GCON, CSG, is something of a visionary. But at the core of his vision is a deep sense of scale; a profound passion for industry and respect for the universe, in their separate immensities. The Forbescertified billionaire nurtures abiding love and respect for fellow humans, particularly those whose minds can somehow span the depth of his industry and citizenship of humanity. The Spirit of Africa, as he is fondly called, is indeed generous at heart. He embarks on a humanitarian odyssey like a kind of poet and painter whose imagination is unclipped. He paints picturesque scenes in lives severely marred by squalor; he encrusts bleakness in shiny varnish. That is the lot of Dr. Adenuga, the Chairman of telecommunications giant, Globacom. At the recent Ojude Oba festival, the paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, Ogun State, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, commended Adenuga for sustaining the sponsorship of the popular cultural festival for the past 11 years. Although the Ojude Oba festival originated as a Muslim festival about 100 years ago, it has since evolved into a festival that Ijebu sons and daughters, whether they’re Muslims or not, unite to celebrate on the third day of Eid-El-Kabir every year. The influential monarch praised Adenuga to high heavens saying posterity would remember him for all his good deeds. In his goodwill address read by Folu Aderibigbe, the Coordinator, Enterprise Sales, Globacom, Adenuga said that the sustained partnership with the Ojude Oba Festival Committee was reflective of Globacom’s passionate commitment to being at the forefront of major initiatives to promote the best of Nigeria’s cultures, values, desires and traditions. According to him, “We are proud of our newlyacquired badge of honour as the biggest corporate promoter of the arts including celebration of traditions, cultures and desires of Nigeria and her peoples and the theme of this year’s celebration, Ojude Oba: A Rich Heritage For Ijebu Unity confirms that traditions, cultures and religious beliefs are basic ingredients which have united peoples and races throughout mankind.” The billionaire businessman added, “We also wish to appeal to all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic and religious persuasions to do all within their capabilities to strengthen that cord of unity that has always bound us together. We owe the present generation and posterity the responsibility to join forces with men and women of goodwill to sustain the renewed drive towards the historical and cultural Renaissance of our country.”
