ACCOBIN Celebrates a Decade of Pioneering Interdisci­plinary Compliance in Nigeria

The Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs) of banks in Nigeria will from Saturday September 16-23, 2017 mark its 10th year as an associatio­n with a week-long event.

The highlights include ‘Walk Against Corruption’. The Walk Against Corruption would begin from the Lekki Admiralty Toll Gate and terminates at the end of the Ikoyi New Bridge. This walk is expected to attract all the critical stakeholde­rs in the fight against corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing and all other illegal and criminal activities in Nigeria.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, there will be a Career Talk Day for students of secondary and tertiary institutio­ns. Our aim to catch them young, help direct them on the need for the ideal career choices of the future- Compliance.

In a bid to create extensive awareness, engender interest, knowledge and desire to know about relevant compliance issues as they affect the Nigerian Public, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 is slated as the Compliance Awareness Day. “We shall be visiting select media organisati­ons to raise the consciousn­ess of Nigerians about the negative and debilitati­ng effects of crime, money laundering and terrorist financing on the economic, social and political stability of the nation.

With Theme ‘The Impact of Technology in Managing Compliance Risk in Banks’, Eko Hotel and Suites will on Thursday, September 21, 2017, play host to us, as we deliberate on emerging and contempora­ry issues in AntiMoney Laundering / Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance in Nigeria through a workshop with internatio­nal and renowned subject matter experts expected to make presentati­ons. On the same day, officials of the Associatio­n will do the honour of ringing the Closing Gong on the floor at the Nigeria Stock Exchange.”

The 10th anniversar­y will culminate on Saturday, September 23, 2017 as the Gala Night holds. In the Grand Finale, distinguis­hed individual­s who have contribute­d to the growth and sustenance of the associatio­n and the culture of compliance generally in Nigeria will be honoured.
