Benin Republic Seeks Stronger Trade Ties with Nigeria

The President of the Benin Republic Chamber of Commerce, Jean Baptiste-Satchivi has called for improved commercial ties with Nigeria to sustain the future of consumers in the two countries.

Satchivi made the call at the 12th Abuja International Trade Fair, where he was the guest of honour. He said the collaboration between the two countries will impact on the enormous West African region market.

He also stressed that the collaboration should exploit the various opportunities in the different sectors of economy including vocational training to engender growth.

“We need to do business with Nigeria and be together. My dream for the corporation with the business leaders of Nigeria is that together we should be able to feed our people by making agriculture a key component in our development initiatives. I want us to go further by developing the business sector,’’ Satchivi, said.

The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce (ACCI), Tony Ejinkeonye said the activities of the chamber had impacted positively on agriculture, technology, invention strategies, sectorial linkages and trade facilitation.

Ejinkeonye, represented by the First Deputy President of ACCI, Adetokunbo Kayode, said the chamber had created the Abuja Trade Fair as an avenue to offer direct services to both local and international audience.

He said ACCI had remained resolutely supportive to the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in view of their critical role over the years to the national growth.

The Chamber is emphasising on promotion of the non-oil exports at the fair in view of the recovery of Nigeria from economic recession in the second quarter of 2017, driven by improved performance largely in agriculture, manufacturing and the trade sector.
