Market pulse on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today - Thursday, September 28th, 2017 ended positive as the market closed green. This was further highlighte­d by positive performanc­e from the NSE Subsectors: Banking and Consumer Goods (Save Insurance and Oil & Gas). Also, trading activities increased in volume as 346.22 million shares worth N3.99 billion in 3,066 deals exchanged hands today. This is an increase from the 136.40 million shares worth N1.27 billion in 2,860 trades were carried out on Wednesday. Topping in volume terms are: Skye Bank Plc, Mansard Insurance Plc and Transnatio­nal Corporatio­n Of Nigeria Plc; while Dangote Cement Plc and Lafarge Africa Plc ended trading as the most active stocks in value terms.

The All Share Index (NSEASI) closed positive with 0.93% (+325.91) increase to close at 35,429.31 from 34,951.27 the previous trading day. Market capitaliza­tion appreciate­d in tandem to N12.21 trillion from N12.10 trillion of prior trading day. Similarly, the Thisday BGL 50 Index closes with an increase of 0.22% to 149.11 from 147.05 recorded at the end of the previous trading day, while its market capitaliza­tion stood at N11.61 trillion from N11.58 trillion of the previous trading day.

A total number of 20 stocks gained on the bourse today while 23 stocks declined, leaving 49 stocks unchanged. Leading the pack again was Fidson Healthcare Plc led with a gain of 10.19% to close at N3.57 per share. It was followed by BOC Gases Plc with a gain of 5.00% to close at N3.78 per share. Others on the gainers’ list include: C&I Leasing Plc, African Prudential Registrars Plc and PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc. On the decliners’ list, National Salt Co. Nig. Plc led with a loss of 8.24% to close at N12.02 per share. It was followed by CCNN Plc with a loss of 5.00% to close at N8.36 per share. Others on the decliners list include: MRS Oil Nig. Plc, Vitafoam Nig. Plc and A.G. Leventis (Nigeria) Plc.

Fidson Healthcare Plc emerged the toast of investors as it topped the Thisday BGL 50 Index gainers’ list with a gain of 10.19% to close at N3.57 per share. It was followed by PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc with a gain of 4.00% to close at N26.00 per share. Others on the gainers chart include: Zenith Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc and Transnatio­nal Corporatio­n of Nigeria Plc. On the decliners’ list, National Salt Co. Nig. Plc led with a loss of 8.24% to close at N12.02 per share. It was followed by CCNN Plc with a loss of 5.00% to close at N8.36 per share. Others on the decliners’ list are: Skye Bank Plc, AIICO Insurance Plc and Sterling Bank Plc.
