Buhari Meets Obiano, Akeredolu, Assures of Free Polls in Anambra
Omololu Ogunmade President Muhammdu Buhari yesterday met Governor William Obiano of Anambra State and his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu in the State House, Abuja and assured the former that the forthcoming governorship poll in his state would be free and fair.
Answering questions from journalists after the meeting, Obiano who advocated the necessity by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free polls in the November 18, 2017 governorship election in his state, said the president assured him that the election would be free and fair.
He said the president was pleased with him because in his characteristic manner, he likes governors who perform well and deliver dividends of democracy to their people.
Obiano who said rigging was antithetical to the principles and beliefs of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), claimed that Anambra remained the safest state in Nigeria today because cases of kidnapping, robbery and other crimes do not exist to the state.
Also answering questions from journalists, Akeredolu said his mission in Aso Rock was to canvass the need for Nigeria to establish a deep seaport in Ondo State with a view to promoting the export of huge mineral deposits in the state.
He said having a deep seaport in Ondo State had become compelling in viewoftheinabilityoflargeshipstosailto Nigerianportsbecauseofnon-availability of deep seaports where such ships can berth adding that when the volume of Nigeria’s grows, existence of a deep seaport will be inevitable.
