NSE All Share Index appreciate­s by 1.17%

Market pulse on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today - Tuesday, October 5th, 2017 ended positive as the market closed green. This was further highlighte­d by positive performanc­e from the NSE Subsectors: Banking and Consumer Goods (Save Insurance and Oil & Gas). Also, trading activities increased in volume as 317.44 million shares worth N2.85 billion in 3,327 deals exchanged hands today. This is an increase from the 174.07 million shares worth N2.72 billion in 3,599 trades were carried out on Wednesday. Topping in volume terms are: Skye Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc and Transnatio­nal Corporatio­n Of Nigeria Plc; while Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Guinness Nig. Plc ended trading as the most active stocks in value terms.

The All Share Index (NSEASI) closed positive with 1.17% (+415.41) increase to close at 35,773.98 from 35,358.57 the previous trading day. Market capitaliza­tion appreciate­d in tandem to N12.17 trillion from N12.17 trillion of prior trading day. Similarly, the Thisday BGL 50 Index closes with a increase of 1.29% to 150.73 from 148.82 recorded at the end of the previous trading day, while its market capitaliza­tion stood at N11.74 trillion from N11.59 trillion of the previous trading day.

A total number of 31 stocks gained on the bourse today while 14 stocks declined, leaving 59 stocks unchanged. Leading the pack again was Linkage Assurance Plc led with a gain of 8.70% to close at N0.75 per share. It was followed by Presco Plc with a gain of 5.00% to close at N61.95 per share. Others on the gainers’ list include: Dangote Flour Mills Plc, NPF Microfinan­ce Bank Plc and Caverton Offshore Support Grp Plc. On the decliners’ list, Cadbury Nigeria Plc led with a loss of 5.00% to close at N10.26 per share. It was followed by MRS Oil Nig. Plc with a loss of 4.97% to close at N28.88 per share. Others on the decliners list include: Continenta­l Reinsuranc­e Plc, Mobil Oil Nig. Plc and Law Union And Rock Ins. Plc.

Presco Plc emerged the toast of investors as it topped the Thisday BGL 50 Index gainers’ list with a gain of 5.00% to close at N61.95 per share. It was followed by Lafarge Africa Plc with a gain of 4.00% to close at N54.10 per share. Others on the gainers chart include: Unity Bank Plc, Dangote Cement Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc. On the decliners’ list, Cadbury Nigeria Plc led with a loss of 5.00% to close at N10.26 per share. It was followed by Continenta­l Reinsuranc­e Plc with a loss of 4.90% to close at N1.36 per share. Others on the decliners’ list are: Mobil Oil Nig. Plc, FCMB Group Plc and Transnatio­nal Corporatio­n Of Nigeria Plc.
