Firm Solves Protracted Car Park Problem at MMIA

- Chinedu Eze

Several years after the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport’s befitting car park was destroyed for a still-born hospitality facility, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in partnership with Seymour Aviation Limited has built the most modern car park facility at the airport.

The project which has a capacity for 1,300 comprising of six floors was an experiment of Public, Private Partnership (PPP) and funded by Fidelity Bank Plc.

Speaking during the inauguration of the facility, the Managing Director of FAAN, Saleh Dunoma, said the facility was long overdue and also timely as “it will improve passenger facilitation and reduce the menace of indiscriminate parking within and around the airport”.

He noted that the project was one of the numerous partnerships FAAN had carried out with the private sector investors and was exploring to improve the infrastructural developments at our airports through more PPP arrangement.

Dunoma who was represented by Salisu Daura, the Executive Director of FAAN in charge of Engineering Service, explained that the “event is a testament of a Public Private Partnership with FAAN and Seymour Aviation Limited.

“The facility which is being commissioned today is a six level car park facility of 1,300 cars parking capacity built on a land measuring 9119.969m2, with a 30 years tenure”.

Applauding the commitment of the management of FAAN and Fidelity bank (financiers of the project) in seeing to the completion of the project, he stated that “this event wouldn’t have been possible without the cooperation of FAAN personnel and financial support of Fidelity bank Plc”.
