First Bank Marks Sustainability Week
As part of efforts to give back to the society, FirstBank of Nigeria Plc recently organised the maiden public Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR and S) initiatives.
Addressing journalists at the Career Counseling Day in Girls Academy Lagos Island, the bank’s Head, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Ismail Omamegbe, said the event was aimed at giving back to its customers which connects with the theme of the week is: ‘Promoting kindness and putting you first.’
He also stated that the initiative was aimed at putting stakeholders in the forefront, adding that as part of activities for the week, they are focusing on three main key activities such as giving, visit to orphanage homes and career counseling.
Omamegbe further stated that the three events took place in Guinean, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra-Leone, Ghana and the United Kingdom.
The bank in a statement said one of the major highlights of the week was the Staff Promoting Acts of Random Kindness (SPARK) initiative.
It stated that the week-long activities would enable the bank employees give their time and resources to promote random acts of kindness within their communities, drive welfare efforts through giving and visits to orphanage homes and Internally Displaced Persons camps (IDPs).
It added: “First Bank CR and S week is the first of its kind in the Financial Service industry in Nigeria and it would spotlight the bank’s corporate citizenship interventions to drive positive impact across various communities all in one week.”
