Global Property Partners to Hold Infrastructure Summit

- Bennett Oghifo

Global Property Partners, a consortium of firms with diverse interests in real estate and infrastructure development, will hold an International Summit on Infrastructure Development in Lagos on October 26, 2017.

The Summit, which will attract some key players in the infrastructure finance and development industry both in Nigeria and internationally, will have the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Guest Speakers include some leading personalities in the Private and Public sector of the country.

With the theme, “Infrastructural Development as Catalyst for Economic Growth”, the 2017 GPP Summit “focusses exclusively on creating avenues that generate sustainable income and wealth through global partnerships, innovation and sound investments.”

According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of GPP, Mr. Emmanuel Odemayowa, “This year’s Summit is to create a platform for the engage- ment of global institutional investors for infrastructure development”.

Noting that the value of Nigeria’s total infrastructure stock (road, rail, power, airports, water, telecoms and seaports) represents only 35% of GDP, as against peer emerging market countries average of 70%), Odemayowa said Nigeria needs to invest $3 Trillion in infrastructure over the next 30 years to optimize the contribution of these critical sectors of the economy.

“It is therefore critical that Nigeria leverages on private financing opportunities for infrastructure development from global institutional investors through Public Private Partnerships (PPP), he said, adding that “the 2017 GPP summit aims to raise Partners to Finance the National Economic Recovery Goals with regards to Infrastructure Development.”

Among the issues to be discussed at the Summit are Investment Opportunities in Africa and beyond; Mobilising Institutional Investments for Infrastructural Development and Current Government Policies and Regulations on Public-Private Partnerships.

There will also be Networking Opportunities with Distinguished Business Execu- tives and Corporate Leaders in the national and global infrastructure finance sector at the Summit.

A number of Guest Speak- ers from both Nigeria and the international community will make presentations at the Summit, including Dr. Zhao Changhui of China EximBank, Mr. David Smith of the British African Business Alliance and the Minister of State for Power, Works & Housing, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri.
