Grace Life Event to Tackle Sexual Abuse

-

Several organisations in Nigerian have been in the forefront of tackling sexual abuse which has become so rampant in recent time. Despite the so much effort put to curtail its occurrence, recent high profile cases of sexual abuse in our society have shown that we need to get better at tackling the menace. It’s a crime that happens in every corner of our country, affecting children, particularly and adult from all walks of life, ethnicities, cultures and classes. It robs children their childhoods and tears families apart.

The experiences relayed by victims every other day, are truly horrific. But, for a crime which has such a devastating effect on its victims and their loved-ones, there is still so much we need to do to tackle sexual abuse and how to prevent it from happening in the first place.

It is in line with this that Grace Life Event, a Christian-based event management company, is putting together a workshop tagged, ‘Real Issues: Sexual Abuse Workshop’.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos to announce the upcoming event billed to hold on Saturday, October 21 at the Grace Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, on the upcoming workshop the founder, Grace Life Event, Mrs. Debbie Enenmoh said one way for women to protect their children from sexual abuse, is education.

While providing details on the workshop, Enenmoh said the event was targeting the vulnerable people in the society who do not have voices. “We are targeting the vulnerable people in the society to talk about issues of sexual abuse,” she said, stating further that children are already getting involved in sexual abuses against themselves. “Sometimes children are getting involved in the child to child abuse. This initiative is talking about sexual abuse, domestic violence and related issues. We have to do something to protect our children. We are going to be focusing on sexual abuse at the event,” she said.
