Lagos, Industrialists to Woo Investors
The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to prioritising the interest of business owners in line with its ease of doing business drive aimed at attracting more investors into the State. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Benjamin Olabinjo, who made the promise, said that the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has directed the ministry to review issues militating against effective operations of businesses across the State through provision of necessary incentives. Olabinjo spoke at stakeholders’ forum on Harmonised Inspection of Workplaces in Lagos State organised by Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja. He explained that the administration of Ambode initiated the yearly brainstorming session in response to the various complaints received from the Organised Private Sector (OPS) on over regulation, multiplicity of inspection and unilateral/ unauthorised sanctions and levies supposedly imposed on business owners by some Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs of government. He said: “The peculiarity of Lagos State in terms of commercial and industrial activities cannot be over-emphasised and as such demand a holistic regulation and constant monitoring of the environment as well as the health and safety of all stakeholders which must be carried out in line with global best practices.”
