- Sam Ekpe

Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, aka Yayi will be ahead of some six prominent residents of the Lagos Community of Oshod, in Oshodi/ Isolo Local Council to be honoured at the community’s N50million Hall Fund Raising slated for Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji Legislative Council Hall in the Council Secretariat.

The others are Chief Samuel O. Aina, a former Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Wahab Sodiq, another former Chairman of the council, the two Chief Launchers of the fund raiser, Alhaji Abdul Razaq Sann aka Provida and Alhaji Soliu Ibrahim aka Too Much Money, patriarch of the CDC in the council area, Chief Israel Olufemi Orija and a former two-term representative of Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 1, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai (MAF).

The Senator, representing the Lagos West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, will chair and drive the occasion at which the community intends to raise N50 million through the Community Development Committee (CDC), the umbrella body of all Community Develop- ment Associations (CDAs) in the Council area to complete a betting hall for the people of Oshodi, Mafoluku and Shogunle, making up the council area.

The CDC in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Rev. Babajide Otegbade, said it has become more than necessary that the community erect a befitting community hall of its own in the face of the fast-pacing nature of Lagos into a mega city.

According to him, the people are not able to hold their cultural and traditional activities, for which they are well known, in the streets and public places anymore just as the cost of the proliferating publict event centres have proven too prohibitive for the people, appealing on corporate institutions, operating in the area, good spirited individuals, public office holders and their representatives at all levels of government to rally round them at the event.

The event slated for 11am on the day, the statement added, will be hosted by the council Chairman, Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse-Ariyo while the State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Alhaji Muslim Folami will be on hand as Special Guest of Honour.
