Mall for Africa Of­fers African Di­as­pora Di­rect On­line Shop­ping Plat­form

Ahead of the hol­i­day shop­ping sea­son, Mall for Africa (MFA) is of­fer­ing African di­as­pora liv­ing in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada op­por­tu­nity to di­rectly pur­chase and send prod­ucts home to fam­ily and friends through its e-com­merce plat­form. The plat­form has been de­scribed as the first for the African di­as­pora com­mu­nity. Pre­vi­ously, the only way for di­as­pora to pur­chase/ send prod­ucts home was to phys­i­cally go into a store, pur­chase the items, pack, and ship them, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment. How­ever, it stated that “Now, with a sim­ple click, di­as­pora can choose from bil­lions of items, from more than 200 of the best US and UK re­tail­ers in the world in­clud­ing Macy’s, eBay, Juicy Cou­ture, Nord­strom, Far­fetch, Over­stock, DSW, and Carter’s.” It listed the some of the rea­sons to pur­chase through MFA to in­clude 50 per cent sav­ings on ship­ping, easy-to-nav­i­gate plat­form; op­por­tu­nity to re­turn prod­uct if prod­uct is in­cor­rect; no hid­den fees as well as no in­sur­ance needed. Ac­cord­ing to data from Pew Re­search in 2015, there were 2.1 mil­lion African im­mi­grants liv­ing in the United States and is steadily climb­ing, with the num­bers roughly dou­bling ev­ery decade since 1970. Founded in 2011, MFA is a global e-com­merce com­pany which en­ables Africans to pur­chase prod­ucts from more than 200 US and UK re­tail­ers. Con­tin­u­ing with its mis­sion to al­low cus­tomers to “shop global, pickup lo­cal” the com­pany plans to en­ter 20 new coun­tries over the next two years. With its pro­pri­etary plat­form and guar­an­teed pay­ment sys­tem, Mall for Africa is the first-ever lo­gis­tics, prod­uct de­liv­ery, pay­ment, and e-com­merce in­te­gra­tion com­pany of­fer­ing con­sumers bil­lions of prod­ucts with zero in­ven­tory.
