Teen Sensation, Akingboye Eyes Golf World Stage
The desire of Nigerians to see one of their own play golf at the world stage may materialise soon as U.S based Nigerian, Daniel Akingboye seems ready to make that dream comes true.
The kid sensation who plies his trade at Knickerbocker Golf Club in New Jersey, says having played the game for over a period of 16 years, the time is now to move to the next level.
The up and coming golfer who flew into the country on Thursday is one of the golfers to watch out for in this year’s edition of the glamourous Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship, which tees off at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 this morning.
For the few who saw some flashes of him, their belief is that Akingboye is a budding talent waiting to explode.
Though he still has some years ahead of him, they are however of the opinion that the kid golfer possesses all the necessary ingredients to make it big in the game of golf, explaining further that it won’t take long for him to hit the limelight.
“He has everything you want to see in a budding professional golfer. He is skillful and talented and has a temperament that can help his game,” the analyst explains.
A great striker of the golf ball, Akingboye, like every other up and coming golf star wants to be the next Tiger Woods.
If his dream materialises he might just be the one to put Nigeria on the world map of golf playing nations.
