Arthouse Holds Its 19th Auction

Art house Contempora­ry, Nigeria’ s premier auction house, holds the 19 th edition of its auction of Modern and Contempora­ry Art, on Monday, November 27 from 6 pm at the Ki a Showroom along Ade ola O de ku Street in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Founded in 2007, Art house Contempora­ry is an internatio­nal auction house that special is es in modern and contempora­ry art from West Africa. With bi a nu all auctions held in Lagos, Art house Contempora­ry hopes to create awareness of the scope of contempora­ry art in the region, encourage internatio­nal recognitio­n towards its talented artists, and strengthen the economy of its art market.

"As contempora­ry African art moves to become one of the fastest growing global art markets, this edition of the auction will feature both master works from the modern period and cutting-edge contempora­ry art from the region’ s most celebrated artists ," said a statement from the auction house.

Featuring at this edition of the auction are the works of such modern masters such as Ben Enwon wu, Uc he Ok eke, Ben Osawe, Jacob Afolabi, Bruce Onobrakpey­a, Chuks Anyanwu, Susanne Wenger, Georgina Beier, David Dale, Dele Jegede and Jimoh Buraimoh. It will also feature the works of leading contempora­ry artists like PejuA lat i se, Kainebi Osahenye, Rom Isichei, Nnenna Okore, Gerald Chukwuma, So kari Douglas Camp CBE, Ben Osaghae, Lemi Ghariokwu, Kolade Oshinowo, Alimi Adewale, and Ndidi Dike, among others.

Internatio­nal artists, who will be featured Glover, George Hughes, Nana Nyan Acquah, Ato Delaquis, Am on Kotei and Geo f rey Muk asa.

The auction will include four charity lots from Ike Nwachukwu, Stella Yow vi U big ho, Duke Aside re and Millicent O koch a in support residency programme based in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The Art house Foundation provides a platform for artists to expand their practice and experiment with new art forms and ideas, offering live/ work residencie­s throughout the year in three-month residencie­s.

Works will be on display at the Ki a Showroom in anticipati­on of the auction on Saturday, November 25 from 11 am to 6 pm, on Sunday, November 26, from 12 noon-6 pm and Monday, November27 from 10 am to 1 pm.

The auctioneer, as usual, will be led be the English-born John Dabney.
