FROM LANGTANG TO LAGOS... CATCH GLO IF YOU CAN

- PATIENCE JONATHAN ROCKS AT IWUANYANWU’S HIGH-OCTANE PARTY

Since telecoms company, Globacom, launched its Glo Everyday Bonanza promo, it has been delighting subscribers from Langtang to Lagos, Aba to Adamawa and everywhere in between. Already, the promo has changed forever the life of Shishi Tanini, an indigene of Takum LGA, Taraba State. Tanini won a brand new Hyundai Accent. The ecstatic Tanini was beaming and bouncing with pride at the headquarters of Globacom in Victoria Island, Lagos. Other subscribers who won flat screen LED TV sets, generators, refrigerators and microwave ovens also received their prizes same day. A total of 60 power generating sets, 60 refrigerators, 120 microwave ovens and 30 LED television sets were received by excited subscribers at the presentation. Presentation ceremonies will also be held in 20 cities like Abuja, Ikeja, Lokoja, Asaba, Warri, Onitsha, Owerri, Calabar, among others across Nigeria. Existing subscribers are required to buy airtime of N100 or more in a day to qualify. Ashok Israni, Globacom’s regional chief marketing officer, said, “To crown the week-long largesse to its subscribers, Globacom will be giving out a brand new Hyundai Accent to a lucky subscriber every Sunday, making a total of 14 car winners.” He said, “All a subscriber needs to do to qualify for these life-impacting prizes is to recharge his or her phone with at least N100 worth of credit. Each N100 credit purchased entitles a subscriber to an entry. So the more recharge a subscriber makes, the more entries he gets and consequently the greater the chance to win quality gifts every day.”Predictably, the news of this novel idea has brought many Nigerians out of their shells, with many taking to their preferred social media pages to praise Globacom’s unprecedented and unimaginable magnanimity. From Twitter to Facebook and Instagram, it has been thumbs up galore. A responder to the news in a national newspaper waxed poetic; “There is certainly no excess in surplus as nocturnal and diurnal subscribers to the Globacom network, excite over gifts of data and other interminable perks showered on them by the telecoms provider. There is no gainsaying Globacom has a capacity for consumer satisfaction so vast that it gives away great chunks to its subscribers in appreciation of their loyalty and patronage. Former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, was among distinguished guests that stormed the glamorous 75th birthday party of billionaire businessman, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, which held at the International Conference Center, Abuja. As one of Nigeria’s wealthiest men, it was no surprise that Iwuanyanwu and his 30-year-old wife, Frances, pulled together a colourful array of guests from all walks of life. But the cynosure of all eyes was no doubt Mrs. Jonathan, a veritable newsmaker while her husband reigned in Aso Rock lasted. Seated on the same table with the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, Mrs. Jonathan wore a permanent smile as virtually everybody in the audience wanted a word or a photo opportunity with her. She obliged all while taking time to enjoy the sumptuous entertainment around her. Typically bedecked in shimmering jewellery, she did not betray the emotion of someone whose bank account with a few millions of dollars in deposit was frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
