Education is Important in Career, Talent Devt, Experts Tell Students
Students have been advised to take their studies seriously, while focusing on their abilities and talents in order to take advantage of opportunities in their chosen careers.
All the facilitators at this year’s Beyond the School’, a career guidance initiative of the Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, agreed that education is vital in any career path, and that those who wish to develop their talents need education to be better at what they do.
Speaking in Lagos, one of the facilitators, Emilia Asim-Ita, a Senior Consultant with Thistle Praxis Consulting, advised the participants on how to make a success of their career choices.
Asim-Ita, who spoke on Personal Development and Career Facts, maintained that career choice should be hinged on passion and urged the students to read wide, cultivate mentors and ignore distractions.
While encouraging the students to dream big, she encouraged them to develop their passions and interests to guarantee a bright future. “The knowledge you now have will help you find disciplines that you are passionate about. You also have to develop the skills needed to succeed in those disciplines.”
In her presentation, the Managing Director of Bestman Games, Mrs. Nimi Akinkugbe, gave the students personal finance tips on savings, investing and spending. She counselled the students to be diligent, prudent and keep good company.
Mr. Gbubemi Fregene aka Chef Fregz, who spoke on his success story, implored the students to get education so as to be on a higher pedestal in their career paths and passion. He disclosed that as far back as his secondary school days, he developed interest in cooking.
