Phillips Consulting Announces 2017 Web Jurist Assessment Results

Phillips Consulting, one of Nigeria’s foremost management consulting firms, has announced the results of its annual Web-Jurist Assessment for 2017.

A statement from the firm at the weekend revealed that in the banking category, Access Bank emerged the overall winner, while the 2016 winner, Ecobank, dropped to eight position.

Similarly, in the state government category, Oyo State retained its place at the top, closely trailed by Ogun and Kaduna States respective­ly.

Osun and Bauchi States, that were second and third respective­ly in the 2016 edition, dropped to 13th and 10th in the 2017 ranking.

Also, in the telecoms category, MTN emerged the 2017 overall winner, with 9mobile coming in second, while the 2016 winner - Globacom, dropped to third this time around.

“In the Insurance category, FIN Insurance Company emerged the winner. AXA Mansard was the only organisati­on to remain in the top three from 2016, climbing from third to second, while AIICO Insurance, the 2016 winner, dropped to 10th in the 2017 ranking.

“In the newly created Airline category, Dana Air emerged 2017 overall winner while Arik Air and Azman Air came in second and third respective­ly.

“In the government parastatal category, the National Communicat­ions Commission (NCC) emerged winner while Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) came in second. Worthy of note is the fact that in 2016, NNPC was overall winner in this category, while the NCC came second,” the firm revealed.

The management consultanc­y firm explained that it had prior to the announceme­nt of the result, carried out a detailed evaluation of the websites of 20 commercial banks, 103 federal government parastatal­s, 29 state government­s, 47 insurance companies, four telecommun­ication companies and seven indigenous airlines.

These websites, according to the statement, were assessed in six categories: aesthetics, technical features, website content, customer experience, website performanc­e and website accessibil­ity. Banks were assessed on an additional gauge: the range of financial services available to their customers online.

Commenting on the results, Phillips Consulting’s Chairman, Mr. Foluso Phillips said: “Our remit is to build great institutio­ns, and this is part of the process with the annual Web-Jurist Ratings, which is currently in its 14th iteration.”

Also, Phillips Consulting Managing Director, Mr. Rob Taiwo, pointed out that the increasing adoption of financial technology meant that going forward, the Web-Jurist Ratings would also assess and rate the mobile apps of banks, saying: “we’ve been a part of this story of progress for a little under two decades and we will remain a part of it for the foreseeabl­e future.”
