IS AISHA GOING THE WAY OF STELLA?

-

Realising that I am some four months older than Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, I have always studied her progression with keen interest whilst wondering in my mind how I would look now if had been born a female. Not too long ago I was worrying in my mind that, owing to President Buhari’s long absence on medical vacation, Aisha was going out of shape; those chubby cheeks, thick lips, expanding stomach-line and a general heavyset bearing. That wonder returned again; so if I had been born a girl and now married, now a grandma, and my husband goes away on a long medical vacation would I let myself be bloated? As if she was reading my mind, the recent photos I saw of Aisha on the pages of newspapers answered my question. Gone now is that grandmotherly look and carriage; Aisha looked sharp at Gen. T. Y. Danjuma’s 80th birthday bash in Lagos. Gone also were those chubby cheeks and in their place were what looked like cleft cheeks, thinner red-tinged lips, and a generally less-heavyset mien; there was even a hint of a tummy-tuck job. Aisha simply looked radiant in her red dress; that suspected tummy-tuck job reminded us all of the late Stella Obasanjo and it seems alright that after gouging themselves full with the goodies of Aso Rock, sitting first ladies should proceed for facelift and liposuction surgeries. It is all fitting and proper. Now President Buhari and his cohorts must stop flaying the Peoples Democratic Party for “mess left behind” and sundry. One such “mess” must have been a tip on how to look radiant post-menopause so that “oga” does not take his attention elsewhere. The idea that President Buhari has also resumed his duties in the bedroom is comically entertaining. Sunday Adole Jonah, Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State
