To further promote its corporate social responsibility efforts and provide for the needy in the society, Grand Cereals Limited, an integrated food production company has donated items to charity. The items ranged from cartons of Grand Cornflakes to Grand Pure Soya Oil. The donation was made during a visit to the Little Saints Orphanage in Lagos by the Regional Sales Manager, Monjarin Sunday on behalf of the company.

Speaking during the visit to the Orphanage home, Monjarin reiterated the organisation’s desire to be involved in social enterprises which ultimately impacts on the society. “We want to ensure that everyone in the society has the opportunity to have a happy celebration irrespective of the circumstance. Apart from serving our customers, part of our corporate values is to give back to the society. We thus try to make sure that everyone has access to the nutritious qualities that our products offer.’’

Founder, Little Saints Orphanage, (Rev.) Mrs. Bamidele George, who received the food items with joy, expressed delight at the gesture courtesy of Grand Cereals Limited. She stated that “we are very delighted to receive these items from Grand Cereals Limited. These items are some of the urgent items that we need in the orphanage. In 1997 UAC of Nigeria Plc acquired a major shareholding in Grand Cereals Limited. The company which was incorporated in 1983, was originally designed to produce baking flour from imported wheat but following the ban placed on imported wheat, GCL modified its operation and production objectives, and today, the growing subsidiary of UACN Plc is steadfastly engaged in many value-added agriculturalbased industrial activities. GCL consistently delivers to consumers, high quality cereals, oils and feed, via the careful application of internationally acclaimed techniques to manufacture premium products.
