Japan, Indonesia, Others to Participat­e in Enugu Trade Fair

The Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industries Mines and Agricultur­e (ECCIMA) said on Thursday that six countries - Japan and Indonesia, the United States of America, South Africa, Ghana and Turkey. have indicated interest to participat­e in its forthcomin­g 29th Enugu Internatio­nal Trade Fair.

The fair according, to the chamber will hold from Friday 16th March to Monday 26th March, 2018.

President of ECCIMA, Mr. Emeka Udeze, who briefed journalist­s at the Chamber’s Complex in Enugu said the fair with the theme, ‘Engenderin­g the Competitiv­eness of Nigerian Products in the Global Market’, will be declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He noted that several other indigenous firms have also shown interest in participat­ing in the fair. Udeze stressed the need for the diversific­ation of the nation’s economy in order to fully revitalise the economy, insisting that the obvious dependence on oil had become a major challenge to the country.

He said: “The Agricultur­al Sector will continue to receive attention in our specially designated area during the Fair aimed at boosting indulgence in Agricultur­al production and commercial farming, more so as it remains a critical sector towards our diversific­ation efforts, so also for the mining/ solid mineral sector, with focus on the linkages and value chain benefits. “As part of our efforts to boost the success of the Fair, we shall as it is strategic, visit some selected institutio­ns and organisati­ons for sensitisat­ion and consolidat­ing our network and reach marketing programme”.

Udeze stressed that ECCIMA cutting edge remains her efforts towards enhancing the special designated area in the Fair complex for the exhibition of new products, prototypes, innovation­s and research findings for commercial­isation.

The ECCIMA president announced that the chamber had taken measures to boost infrastruc­ture inside the Fair ground, including reinforcem­ent of the electricit­y distributi­on.
