Lalong Acquires 400 New Tractors to Boost Mechanised Farming
In a bid to boost mechanised farming in Plateau State and harness its huge agriculture potential, Governor Simon Lalong has purchased over 400 new tractors.
Lalong disclosed this on Monday after inspecting projects lined up for unveilng by President Muhammadu Buhari who is expected to pay a one-day working visit to the state on Thursday.
He said that government was leveraging on the benefits of public and private sector investment through partnership to achieve the goal of diversifying its economy to agriculture.
He added that the state would soon venture into large scale mechanised farming through public-private partnership, noting that his administration’s determined to ensure a bumper harvest in Plateau this year.
Lalong also said his administration would continue to deliver on its electioneering promises, adding that “my administration is determined to make lives comfortable for all citizens of Plateau.”
He said: “We would continue to embark on developmental projects that have direct bearing on the people of the state especially for those in the rural areas. We are also revamping the education sector as well as the health sector and we would continue to do more for our people.”
Projects slated for commissioning by the President include the federal low cost road, the Maraba Jamma road, the secretariat Junction fly over, among others.
Meanwhile, the governor has offset the hospital bill of pupils of Fatima Primary and Nursery school in Kuru Jos South local government area, who were involved in auto crash.
The accident occurred around 7 30am on Monday when a bus conveying the pupils to school veered off the road resulting in hospitalisation of 76 of the pupils.
