Meadow Hall Restates Commitment to Quality Education
To enable teachers, school owners, parents, government officials, policy makers and other educational stakeholders gain fresh perspectives on pertinent issues in the sector, the Meadow Hall Foundation, a non-profit organisation and a member of Meadow Hall Group recently held its second Education Convention and Inspirational Educator Awards (INSEA) in Lagos.
The convention with the theme ‘Addressing the Quality Question in the Education Sector’, had a great line-up of speakers and panellists that addressed various areas of concern. The keynote address was delivered by a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe.
Other speakers and panellists were Mr. Fela Durotoye, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, Dr. Modupe Adefeso-Olateju, Mrs. Nike Akerele De Souza, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, Mrs. Kehinde Nwani, Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, Prof. Anthonia Maduekwe, Mr. Ola Opesan, Dr. Olufemi Ogunsanya, Mrs. Lola Esan, Mr. Babajide Duroshola, Mrs. Olayinka Obafisoye, Mrs. Fatimo Okeowo, Mrs Oluremi Tanimola and Mr. John Ofoesuwa.
The convenetion attracted over 500 delegates from within and outside the country.
In his keynote address, Ibidapo-Obe said there has to be a general standard for the Nigerian education sector to be great again. He frowned on the quota system currently in place where cut-off marks for university admission examinations differ based on geo-political zones or tribe.
