Global Cloud Adoption in Healthcare Rose 34% in 2017, Says Dell Technologi­es

Cloud adoption in healthcare delivery and digital enterprise business transforma­tion is increasing by the day according to recent research report released by Dell Technologi­es at the just concluded Dell Technologi­es World 2018 in Las Vegas, US.

According to the enterprise survey report, the adoption of Infrastruc­ture as a Service (IaaS) in the healthcare sector rose from 23 per cent at the end of 2015 to 34 per cent at the end of 2017, indicating that public cloud is emerging as part of the Informatio­n Technology (IT) mix for organisati­ons in the healthcare industry.

Analysing the report, Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management and Strategy at Virtustrea­m, the cloud management arm of Dell Technologi­es, Mr. Peter Cutts, said: “Many healthcare organisati­ons are searching for IT delivery models that improve system flexibilit­y and agility, while simultaneo­usly seeking cost containmen­t measures. Consequent­ly, many healthcare organisati­ons have adopted cloud-first strategies for new technology initiative­s.”

According to Cutts, Virtustrea­m has responded to this challenge with the Virtustrea­m Healthcare Cloud, which allows healthcare organisati­ons to leverage the efficienci­es and scale of the public cloud in a secure and compliant cloud platform that is purpose-built to address their specific needs. In his keynote address, the Vice Chairman, Products and Operations at Dell Technologi­es, Mr. Jeff Clarke, explained how modern technology is changing the global workforce and workspace. He said more people and organisati­ons are looking for new ways to drive their businesses and that Dell Technologi­es would continue to innovate to provide customers with the best of technology solutions that would enhance their business. According to Clarke, the adoption rate of Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligen­ce in business is on the increase and estimated that by 2020, 20 per cent of businesses will adopt VR and AI technologi­es to further drive their businesses.
