One of the oldest Christian societies, Cathedral Torch Bearers (CTB) has demonstrated its commitment to the development of Christianity at all level with the launch of a book ‘Let Your Life Shine’ and also to commemorate its 75th anniversary. He said the book launch was one of the activities lined up to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Cathedral Touch Bearers, the foremost male society in the Cathedral Church of Christ. “We are using this occasion not only to continue with anniversary but also to raise funds for the completion of our ongoing flagship church development project. It’s the first time that we are publishing a book. It’s a collection of papers presented in our lecture for over 30 years and we have chapters in the book written by dignitaries. The book is interesting because it touches both biblical and contemporary issues. It’s a book for everybody,” he noted. He further said the book has been developed to inform, educate and entertain, adding, “The book is for everyone regardless of any denomination, it’s for Christians generally.”

He also noted that, although, over the years the society has been faced with challenges but with honcho effort of member, the society overcame challenges which have resulted to an elaborate anniversary and developmental projects. “We thank God that the founding father of the society laid a solid foundation. We are trying to build an organisation we can pass on to other generation. We want to recruit the young people to take part in the developmental process,” he said.

Oyeyemi lamented that Nigeria has been facing serious economic issues which according to him has caused inflation and a burden to Nigerians. He urged Christians to pray for a better Nigeria. He said: “The way things are going on Nigeria today, for those of us who are in our 70s, we are not happy. This is not the Nigeria we use to know 40 years ago. It was a better country and now we are facing a serious economy challenge and that’s why we want Christians to join hands and pray to see better days.”
