Tarfa, Agbakoba, Falana, Banwo & Ighodalo in Search of Final Tickets
The ongoing 2018 BOA Lawyers Football Tournament has thrown up four, almost equally matched teams for the semi finals clashes slated for Sunday, April 6, 2018 at the AstroTurf 2000 in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Two past champions, Olisa Agbakoba Legal and defending champions Falana & Falana are hoping to repeat history while two other nearly teams, Banwo & Ighodalo and Rickey Tarfa want to get their names into the roll call of winners of the prized trophy meant for legal practitioners.
Agbakoba who was last year’s finalist has the hurdle of surmounting the challenge posed by ambitious Rickey Tarfa. In the other semi final, defending champion Falana will need to dig deep from experience in the battle with Banwo & Ighodalo.
To get to the semifinals, Rickey Tarfa defeated SOOB/ NICCOM 1-0, which is the same score-line Olisa Agbakoba had in its victory over ALP/ SPA.
Falana & Falana on the other hand had to rely on the element of luck in penalty shoot out to overcome BA Law/ Probitas 3-2 after regulation time deadlocked goalless. The fourth semi finalist, Banwo & Ighodalo defeated ADVOCAAT by a lone goal scored by Koye Kekere-Ekun.
20 teams, divided into four groups of five each, began the race to the title from the preliminary stage of the five-week competition, which featured eight matches every week.
After the home and away knockout stage, eight teams qualified automatically for the quarterfinals from which the four semifinalists emerged.
The matches are holding at the AstroTurf2000 every Sunday and according to the organisers, as was the case in the earlier rounds, “in the event of a draw, penalties will be deployed as decider. In the shoot out, each team will be entitled to three penalties.”

The Lawyers League is held in memory of the late lawyer, Bankole Olumide Aluko, a founding partner in the law firm of Aluko & Oyebode, who passed on 15 years ago.
