The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education, Hon. Zakari Mohammed has charged wellto-do Nigerians to complement the government’s efforts at improving the quality and standard of education in the country.

Mohammed, who represents Kaima/Baruten Federal Constituency of Kwara State, gave the charge at Kaima Town during the distribution of education materials to pupils, as well as other empowerment materials to the people of his constituency. He said education remains the only way to add value to the youths who are future leaders of the country.

Some of the empowerment materials distributed at the event were transformers, block moulding machines, grinding machines, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, sprayers and herbicides

According to him, “the development of education should not be left alone in the hands of the government”, adding that there is no amount committed to the development of education that is too small, as it will be a legacy for the youths in the nearest future.

Mohammed added that a new law is underway from the national assembly that will ensure that the future of those who hold tomorrow for the nation is secured.

This he said would assist the youths to be more committed to the unity and oneness of the country instead of engaging in any act that may hinder the peace and development of the country.

“We want to make sure that we nurture, protect and encourage the next generation of leaders so as to help them contribute their quota towards the social well-being of the populace.

“The national assembly will also push for policies that are important to the youths so as to expand opportunity for them as this will help them to be part of the Nigerian project.”

Mohammed, who appealed to youths to shun all actions that can be a threat to peace, said the move would help the government to embark on meaningful developmental projects that would add value to the socio-economic development of the society.

“Nothing can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos and violence and all youths should be law abiding and shun all forms of actions that will not move the nation forward.”

He said though his primary assignment is to make laws, supporting people with this kind of empowerment would also improve their wellbeing in the society. He promised that the national assembly would not relent in its efforts at making more laws that would move the country forward.
