THISDAY Appoints Alike Group News Editor

The Board of Directors of the THISDAY/ARISE Media Group has announced the appointmen­t of Mr. Ejiofor Alike as the Group News Editor of THISDAY Newspaper.

Alike, an Energy Correspond­ent on the Business Desk, takes over from Mr. Davidson Iriekpen,w ho has been promoted to become the Deputy Editor of THISDAY newspaper.

Alike, a graduate of Accounting and a Masters holder in Banking and Finance from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, joined THISDAY as Energy Correspond­ent in 2008. He was formerly an Energy Analyst with BusinessDa­y Newspaper.

He had also gathered experience in public service from the Enugu State Local Government System where he rose to become a senior staff member.

He has covered challengin­g assignment­s both within and outside Nigeria, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, South Korea, Brazil, Qatar and India. With his vast experience in the oil and gas industry, he was the only Nigerian invited in November 2013 by the Indian government to deliver a paper at the Second India-Africa Strategic Dialogue held at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) in New Delhi, India.

It was shortly after he delivered his paper, which dealt extensivel­y on how to eliminate the challenges in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry to guarantee effective supply to India, that India took over from the United States as the largest importer of Nigeria’s crude oil.
