Birnin-Gwari: Kidnappers Demand N5m Ransom for Nursing Mother
The armed bandits who kidnapped 23 people at the notorious Birnin-Gwari axis of Kaduna State have demanded N5 million ransom for the release of a nursing mother among the hostages.
This is coming the bandits again kidnapped 10 more people at Kuriga area of Birnin-Gwari around 6.25pm on Friday evening.
The Birnin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance, in a statement yesterday, said the latest abduction of commuters along this strategic route linking southern part of the country and the north has further deteriorated the security of Birnin-Gwari local government area.
“Earlier that day at Kwanart sauni between Udawa and Labi 22 people were kidnapped including a nursing mother.
“Reliable sources closed to the husband of abducted nursing mother said, the kidnappers are requesting five million naira for her release together with the infant. The husband a retiree without monthly Pension and gratuity cannot afford to pay the ransom” the statement read.
“We are calling on the federal government as a matter of urgency to conduct aerial bombardment of identified hideouts of armed bandits along BirninGwari-Kaduna road, Kaduna international airport general area particularly Sabon-Birni and Maid aroa swell as BirninGwari-Funtua road and Kamuku Forest.
