The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna has been given the nod to commence degree programmes by September 2018, barely a year after the Bill establishing it was assented to by President Mohammadu Buhari.

This was revealed weekend during the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s courtesy visit to the National University Commission (NUC) in Abuja.

Abubakar in a statement yesterday by the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said the first degree programmes to be offered by the Institute include Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Automotive Engineering among others.

He said the Institute would also offer Masters Degree programmes in fields such as Aerospace Vehicle Design with Airframe, Power Plant and Avionics Options, in addition to other programmes.

Speaking further, the CAS praised the painstaking efforts by NUC to ensure standardisation of university education in the country.

According to him “the challenges of the 21st cannot be resolved without proper education. Consequently, the NAF gives much credence to human capacity development.”

He added that the NAF has continued to train its personnel both locally and abroad, as the Service was aware of the fact that “no one can give what he does not have”.
