Niger Govt, PDP Call for Prayer

The Niger State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have called for prayers for peace to continue to reign in the state.

The PDP asked for prayers for the revival of the state and national economies which it said had forced untold hardships on the citizenry.

In separate statements to mark this year’s Ed-el-Fitr made available to, the Niger State government and the opposition PDP also called for peaceful coexistenc­e among the diverse ethnic groups and adherents of different religions in the state.

The Niger State Government statement was signed by the Acting Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Ketso while that of the PDP was initialed by the state chairman Alhaji Tanko Beji.

The Acting Governor reminded the people of the "teachings of fasting in the month of Ramadan as a way of showing equality between the rich and the poor, the leaders and the led and most especially, consistent prayers and forgivenes­s" and asked for its sustenance.

Ketso assured the people that the Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello administra­tion would continue to provide more democratic dividends and conducive atmosphere for everyone in the state

On his part, the PDP chairman Alhaji Tanko Beji assured the people that the party would not be party to anything that would truncate the existing peace in the state.

Beji asked eligible voters in the state to obtain their voters card as "it is the only license you have to vote and to vote out the present leadership in the state and at the national level."
