Lagos State World Cup Viewing Centres Kick off

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode said the state government has opened viewing centres across the state for Lagosians to watch live football action from the ongoing Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

The viewing centres were opened to fans on Thursday, for the opening ceremony as well as the opening match between the hosts, Russia and Saudi Arabia. The centres will run till the end of the World Cup on Sunday, July 15.

The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, said the viewing centres are set up at the following locations: Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Campos Mini Stadium Lagos Island, Abesan Estate, Alimosho, Naval Yard Ajegunle, Bishop Aggrey School Mushin and Epe Recreation Centre. According to Tandoh, entry into the viewing centres is free. "The government has made adequate provisions for medical coverage, security, traffic control and general sanitation at all the viewing centres. A Public Liability Insurance Cover is also in place covering the six centres for the period of the World Cup.

"Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who is a member of the federal government's delegation to the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, wants Lagosians to have a feel of football action in the ongoing World Cup and he believes the viewing centres will also serve as fun and relaxation spots for the people,” Tandoh said.
