OLUWATOYIN SANNI’S UNCOMMON HUMILITY
Oluwatoyin Sanni, the former Group Chief Executive of United Capital Plc., is an inspirational dream of bliss. Sanni is a seasoned investment and portfolio banker, whose 32 years cognate experience in the Capital market has helped to boost Nigerian and Foreign investors’ confidence. Her splendor is never fully displayed for long mortal eyes to indulge. Sanni is unpretentious in humility. Her unabashed modesty offers valuable lessons on why wantonness should be scorned. Sanni excellently manages anything entrusted in her care.
It was heartwarming to see the beautiful wife of Pastor Sanni of the Redeemed Christian Church at a recent event where she interacted amiably with both affluent, middle segments and youths. She is no doubt one of the very few ladies of affluence in the financial market that does not make song and dance to their positions and privileges. Not even her husband’s positions in the same profession have changed her outlook on life. Interestingly, there is a certain tinge of plentifully attached to the loveliness of Toyin, reminiscence of that virtues woman that love and serve God within her busy schedules. Beneficiaries of her friendliness can testify that she honours all invitations to corporate work and events serving the Lord.
Like the birds soaring above the sky, undoubtedly, so is Toyin in her career paths especially in a society where men dominants. She has fought a good fight for women and so passionate about gender equality and has written two books for foes to mark her 50th birthday titled “Yes, you too can maximise your life” and “Yes, you too can Get to the top.”
At United Capital, she initiated and championed innovative products such as the United Capital NGN Eurobond Fund and the Wealth for Women Fund. Toyin has played leading roles in landmark deals, which helped indigenous companies.
A watershed year for the group under her leadership was in 2016 when the company delivered the highest capital appreciation on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and in 2017 when it won the highest number of Awards at Pearl Awards Nite.
Amongst the best she clinched was “Most Outstanding CEO of the Year”, with Toyin becoming the first female CEO to win that Award in its 22-year history. In the same year, Toyin was named the Esquire Legal Award Business Icon of the Year, All African Business Woman of the year 2017 by CNBC, was later twice named a Business Day Top 25 CEO (2014, 2015 and 2016, to mention but few.
She has held various positions as Chairman and Chairperson of Portfolio Managers. As a public personality, speaker and author, who derives satisfaction from grooming future leaders and proffering capital solutions for financing and investment challenges of African governments, businesses and individuals, the Christian Millionaire Bookclub in United Kingdom recently engaged her in a conservation with the theme: “becoming wealthy God’s Way”.
The impeccable personality of Toyin would be missed at United Capital. She has created her own real financial world called-Emerging Africa Capital Group, where she doubles as an Entrepreneur and CEO.
