Okebukola Admonishes Students as Emerald Celebrates Excellence
Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Peter Okebukola has advised students going to the university to be focused and enjoyed their new found freedom with responsibility.
He spoke at the graduating ceremony held in honour of Emerald High School graduating class of 2018, admonishing the graduating students to continue to be serious with their academic pursuit.
Emerald school is an international school established to raise role models and it has elementary and secondary arms in its facilities in Gbagada, Lagos and Emerald Valley along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, opposite Deeper Life Camp, Mowe, Ogun State.
The school is a member of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA), Association of Private Educators in Nigeria (APEN) and Association of International School Educators in Nigeria (AISEN).
At the occasion the management, staff and parents of the school rolled out the drums in celebration of the impressive and recordbreaking results of the class of 2018.
The graduation ceremony was turned into a thanksgiving event because of the many academic laurels of the graduating set.
The school principal, Mrs. Busola Adegbaju, while welcoming guests to the occasion held in the multipurpose school hall, announced that one of the graduating students Miss Chidiebere Esther Okoroafor, was recently honoured at the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, held in Lagos. She won the “Top in Nigeria” Award for achieving the highest mark in English Language as a second language (speaking endorsement).
Okoroafor was the best in Nigeria in this subject, taken in Cambridge IGCSE examination. This is the second time the British Council in Nigeria, in collaboration with its partners, Cambridge Assessment International Education, will recognize outstanding Cambridge learners.
Emerald High School was also awarded the ‘Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards –Top in Nigeria 2016.
