Lara Day School Celebrates its 55th Anniversar­y

Lara Day School, Lagos, recently celebrated its 55th anniversar­y and graduated its 48th set of pupils.

Speaking at the graduation and prize giving ceremony for the 2017/2018 set, held in Lagos, the Executive Director of the School, Mrs. Olatomi Keleko, emphasised on its challenges, achievemen­ts, legacies and experience­d since it was establishe­d in 1963 establishm­ent of the school.

“Lara Day School has come through so many years of turbulence and challenges since its establishm­ent in 1963. The school started with a population of 7 children and we have since grown; we are grateful to God and all those who stood by us through these years. Lara Day School has moved from one generation to this present generation and we are moving to another generation very soon,” she said

The Head of School, Mrs. Patricia Tioluwani expressed delight about how far the school has come over the years saying, “It has been 55 years of maintainin­g a very strong vision, mission statement and a very rich heritage; 55 years of continuous­ly improving standards; 55 years of consistent excellent results.

“Our 21st century teaching method supports various learning style and multiple intelligen­ce. Our staff and our parents have grown from being mere acquaintan­ces to beyond even friends; you might even mistake us to be family members. Our facilities support 21st century teaching and learning. These and many more have been our strength for the past 55 years and we are still going stronger.”

In his exhortatio­n, Reverend Olu Toriola said the school has a reason to thank God for its 55 years of existence adding that doing such is an invitation for more blessings.

He admonished the graduands to see themselves as beacon of hope saying, “When we see you , we see a better Nigeria, an end to political nonsense in the country. When you get to the next level, you may meet all kinds of people, but do not misbehave. Remember the sons of whom you are. Never allow anybody to kill you. Be mindful of who your friends will be, don’t fight, be gentle.”
