Aviation College Gets New Rector

Kwara state government has approved the appointment of former acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ((NCAA), Benedict Adeyileka as the new Rector of the International Aviation College (IAC), Ilorin.
The government said that, the new rector was expected to serve a tenure of four years which is renewable by one term.
The appointment according to THISDAY checks might not be unconnected with the recent suspension of the licence of the college by the regulatory agency of the aviation industry in the country, NCAA. It was gathered that, the issue had also led to the alleged deficiency in the day to day operations of the college which hitherto has led the supervising Ministry of the College, the state Ministry of Works and Transport to commence reorganisation of the college following the expiration of the tenure of the former rector of the college, Captain Abdulmumin Abdulkareem(rtd).
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday on the reorganisation of the college, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Aro Yahaya said the state government has approved the appointment of new Rector, Adeyileka with immediate effect.
He said that, the new rector has been given a matching order to reposition the college for better result.
Yahaya, while describing the new rector as a thorough bred professional said the state government hoped to see the college more functional and productive under Adeyileka.
He explained that the rector was appointed after the expiration of tenure of Captain Abdulkareem.
The commissioner debunked rumour that licence of operation of the college was revoked saying the license was only subjected to the normal auditing by the NCAA.
Also, in his remark, the new Rector, Adeyileka who promised to address all what may be challenges of the college is expected to serve a tenure of four years renewable by one time.
The new Rector who said he had been in aviation industry for the past 32 years with experience both in United Kingdom and Nigeria disclosed that he would lead the college to look inward for solution to its challenges.
